General Etiquette; Out of Character/ Posting
1. Respect your fellow human beings. Yes, we are all humans behind those screens. Respect ranges from something as simple as avoiding conflict to stealing an identity and keeping the in character and out of character worlds separate. Someone might hate your character; they don’t hate you.
2. Swearing, out of character especially, should be kept to a minimum, and never used maliciously towards another person. In Character you may of course swear at other characters.
3. Signatures should not stretch the board and be no wider than 500 pixels. Be kind to those with dialup. And signatures wider than specified will be turned into links.
4. Your In Character posts should be at least 3-5 lines long. If you are new to roleplaying and having serious trouble with this message the staff to discuss it with them. Remember, no one likes to put time into their writing and get a couple lines back after they have done a good three paragraphs. Effort, challenge yourselves.
5. Spelling and grammar are your friends. No one’s perfect, so spellcheck if you have too.
6. Powerplaying and godmoding are not allowed without permission. This is when you control someone else character, or make your own character invincible.
7. ‘Mary-Sued’ characters are frowned strongly upon. Remember this when submitting an application. These are characters that have no flaws and are always perfect.
In Character Guidelines
1. Any territory can be claimed without the permission of staff with the exception of Raye Lac and Joie Fourre, which you need permission for if you are not a wolf. Wolves may of course, claim any territory. Territories may also be claimed and resided on by multiple species, for example, a horse herd and fox band may share a territory, though it is advised they are of the same alliance, obviously.
However, while any territory may essentially be claimed, not just anyone can go and stake such a claim.
Territory may be fought over and stolen at any time.
2. Fights/ challenges with significant terms (for land, or a mare etc) should be judged by staff if you have not predetermined the winner between yourselves. If a challenge is not responded to within three days the last person to post wins by default (unless the winner was predetermined).
3. Characters may breed essentially any time of the year, for our simplicity, if your character is in heat and you may decide when that is. You may also decide the stats of your children so long as they are not perfect (staff may also decide to defect your child(ren) or give you a miscarriage etc). Gestation should last at least two weeks (real time). You may extend this if you wish, of course.
4. Your character's appearance and behavior should have a strong element of realism. This does not mean you cannot have some unusual quirks or markings, but they must not be drastic. Bright orange and purple are not natural fur colours, nor are perfect star-shaped markings natural; animals also are not prone to mental illness or retardation, not to a human extent.
Remember to follow the Proboards TOS. Punishments are not predetermined and will be discussed pending the severity of the rule that was broken, and it is not our responsibility to keep members updated on the rules.
If you disagree with any of our rules, then you may suggest a change of course, especially if it deals with animal behaviour, we would love to hear from you.
