You know I realized something depressing just now. When I was new to roleplaying I was also a very avid writer, and I felt that being just as good or better than the more advanced people was my goal. Like, I had to out do them. So I actually tried, and challenged myself. And now I've just stopped caring.
I really miss being a beginner. Like sooooo much. Cause I don't have any goals I can really reach now. I've reached them. And the more you roleplay the more you realize sometimes those novel like posts that are full of redundant information you and most other folks just don't want to read. So why write them? Quality, not quantity right?
But then I also realize, maybe the goal is to be able to write something other people can also build off of, so that it's a relatively nice length, but also one hundred percent relative to what's going on. I've hardly seen this accomplished, maybe even ever. O.o
And I can do it, or could, when I'm writing novels. Cause that's entirely different. But I haven't written anything since March of last year excluding poetry. Bit sad.
Just needed to ramble.

Grace is still a shitty RPer and she has been doing it for years. xD

If this was brought on by my joining post, then let me tell you something.
I like my joinings to be as complex a character sketch as I can manage when I first start out with a new character. That way, if I'm faced with a tough decision, I can re-read my joining and get a clearer sense of what my chari's all about. Bastian is brand new to me, never been used in any situation. That's why his joining is so long. When I compare his joining to my horse chari Jericho's previous joinings... that poor horse is pitiful. After using Jericho for oh, a year on and off, the joining posts I create are no longer for me, but for other members who want to see what he's all about.
Compared to my IC posts, my joining is a novel. I usually only do two, maybe three paragraphs out there when I'm writing/replying to threads. I like to keep my chari concise, yet allow people to build off of him with as long a post as they feel like. I'm happy replying to five lines if they're well written and not completely unrelated to anything else.
I don't consider myself to be a beginner RPer, and I often get writers block and can't reply to a post for days. Sometimes I, guiltily, give people two-liners or the most boring junk they could ever read. All I can do about it is try to create a complex character who will be fun to RP.
And if this wasn't brought upon by my joining post, whatever. Just consider my post as adding to the discussion anyway.
Pffft. And Grace is not a bad RPer, you write with humor that actually makes people smile. It's hard to do, I just gave it up because I realized that I'm just not funny. xD

Lol. First rant by Eskim. We should mark it down in history. Because, guys don't often rant. Well, not any that I know anyway. And yay for my posts being humorous, I think? Lol, I like making people smile. It's something I'm good at.

I know what you mean. It was actually brought on however because I found an old disk with on of my stories in it and was like 'Wow, this is crap', and was also skimming some of my older posts from NSE (I've saved a lot). Then I went to respond to a post, and it became clear to me just how hard it was, and thus, the ramble of no goals was born.
Personally, the more in depth a character is, the better. Because apart from being able to figure out situations, if you let them sit for awhile, you'll have a much more detailed idea of their personality when it's all been forgotten.
Grace-Jillian, I likes your posties, they are relevent. ^^ Like the Zoal one, stop beatin' yourself!

Hey, the type of guys who play wolf RPG's must also be the type who rant. I'm a dieing breed.
Agreed, Crow. If you make a character who you've played before and know inside out, a short joining with just enough information to get by with is fine. When making a new chari though, I strongly suggest something more so you have more to work with in the future.
I find that when I get all "don't want to write everything sucks", it's sometimes best to create a new character, or else take a break from RPing for a bit. Eventually something will happen to trigger your muse again. Oh hey, I just read some of your Lekel posts. They're not bad at all. Short and to the point, yet still interesting to read. You don't really give yourself enough credit, I'm thinking.

When I lack muse I usually listen to music, it sometimes inspires.
Thank you. ^^ Depends if I have to guide the thing somewhere. Typically dialog is the hardest, so it doesn't sound moronic. XD

Oh I hate dialouge also. Cause, you have to use someone elses mind to say it. And its kind of hard to put yourself in another species, or even persons, body.

Hah. And no matter how you say it, it always sounds planned. Like your chari had to think about it before saying it, when it's supposed to be impulsive.

Exactly! I think the only character I've broken off that a bit with is a new one. But it's only to me, since she speaks like me (although most my charries do, I actually try to dumb down their vocabulary, cause I talk all weird) and all. So I think 'What would I say. Aw.' Only, less shy.
Crowy actually premeditates most of her real life conversations cause she's a freak.

I'd make a chari like me... except it'd be really boring. I don't really talk enough to make my conversations impulsive anyway.
Crow's not wierd, she's just... unique. Trust me, I'd rather have your wierdness than the stupidness of all the chicks at my school any day.

My characters do not talk like me in the least I don't think. Except maybe Rylyn will. She is very much like myself.

Lirl Grace. I can just see Rylyn pestering poor Bastian sometime in the future. We should arrange it.
